Ice Drug Network Operator Arrested in Hambantota with Narcotics Worth Rs. 300,000

The Tangalle Divisional Anti-Narcotics Unit has arrested ‘Bellagaswewa Kavindu’, who allegedly operates the drug network of ‘Bellagaswewa Rana’—a suspect currently in remanded custody at the Angunakolapelessa Prison for possession of ‘Ice’ (Methamphetamine).

The arrest was made yesterday (13) within the Hambantota Port Police division, with the suspect found in possession of Ice drugs carrying an estimated market value of nearly Rs. 300,000.

The suspect is a 21-year-old resident of the Bellagaswewa area in Ambalantota. At the time of the arrest, authorities recovered 28 grams and 440 milligrams of Ice from his possession.

The raid was conducted by a team of officers from the Divisional Anti-Narcotics Unit, including Unit OIC Sub-Inspector (SI) Kasun Hettiarachchi, Police Sergeants (PS) 2354 Prageeth, 40648 Gamage, 40659 Sanjeewa, and Police Constables (PC) 82633 Lakmal and 87119 Amila.

The suspect and the confiscated contraband have been handed over to the Hambantota Port Police Station. The suspect is scheduled to be produced before the Hambantota Magistrate’s Court today (14).
