COLOMBO:
The Colombo Harbour Police have launched a comprehensive investigation following a violent violent altercation between two rival groups of Chinese nationals inside the Colombo Port City premises. The incident has raised critical security concerns regarding the potential operation of organized foreign crime elements within the country.
Injuries, Alleged Abduction, and Seizure of Firearm
According to police sources, two Chinese nationals sustained severe injuries during the clash and are currently undergoing treatment at a private hospital in Colombo. Investigative teams have also been deployed following revelations that a third injured Chinese national was forcibly abducted from the scene by members of the rival faction.
During a search of a suspicious motor vehicle abandoned at the locus in quo, police officers recovered a pistol loaded with live ammunition. Forensic experts and fingerprint analysts have been engaged to determine whether the firearm was smuggled into the country or procured locally.
Motive and Intervention by the Chinese Embassy
Preliminary inquiries suggest the clash may have stemmed from a high-stakes financial dispute or business rivalry. Law enforcement officials are currently analyzing CCTV footage from the Port City complex to identify and apprehend all individuals involved.

Taking immediate note of the incident, the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Sri Lanka has formally requested local law enforcement authorities to conduct a swift, thorough, and impartial investigation to uncover the truth. The Embassy further emphasized the paramount importance of ensuring the safety, legal rights, and personal security of all Chinese nationals residing in Sri Lanka.
