Lieutenant General Nilantha Premaratne, Commander of the Army, recently visited Perahettiya Ranaviru Village in the Hali-Ela Divisional Secretariat Division to inquire into the welfare, living conditions and issues faced by war hero families.
A total of 23 war hero families reside in the village, including seven disabled war heroes and 16 relatives of war heroes. The Ranaviru Village was established in 2004 with the aim of ensuring the welfare of war hero families.
During the visit, the Commander of the Army engaged in cordial discussions with the war heroes and their family members residing in the village and inquired into their day-to-day lives, welfare requirements and prevailing issues.
Paying close attention to the requests and concerns raised by the war hero families, the Commander of the Army instructed the relevant authorities to take the necessary measures to address their issues.
He further emphasised that the dignity, security and welfare of war heroes and their family members would continue to receive priority attention, while assuring them that they would all be cared for as members of one Army family.
