Indian High Commissioner to Sri Lanka, Santosh Jha, stated that visas will be issued free of charge to pilgrims traveling to India to visit sacred Buddhist sites, including Dambadiva, upon the recommendation of the Ministry of Buddhasasana, Religious and Cultural Affairs.
He mentioned that the initiatives taken by the Indian government in support of Sri Lanka were commended by the Most Venerable Mahanayake Theros of the Malwatte and Asgiriya Chapters, who advised that these efforts be continued seamlessly.
High Commissioner Santosh Jha made these remarks while addressing the media after calling on the Mahanayake Theros of the Malwatte and Asgiriya Chapters to seek their blessings this afternoon (03).
He expressed that he seeks the blessings of the Mahanayake Theros whenever possible, emphasizing that as the closest neighbor, India always stands by Sri Lanka’s side.
The High Commissioner further stated that India has supported Sri Lanka not only during times of crisis but on every occasion, and will continue to do so in the future.
Assistant High Commissioner of India in Kandy, Saranya V.S., was also present at the occasion.
